Some changes to the site
Over the break I did a review of my business and decided to change my subscription model and have made these changes to keep Foresight in the Present alive and viable.
Hello again after my long break. We were settling on a new apartment on the Gold Coast and moving in. My husband and I are both from Queensland originally and spent a lot of time on the beaches there in our misspent youth and decided it was be nice have a place now that we could also retire to by the beach. Retirement is many years off yet so we are looking forward to hosting many family events there since both our families live quite close to the Gold Coast. Okay, on to the changes.
Over the break I did a review of my business and decided to change my subscription model and have made these changes to keep Foresight in the Present alive and viable.
Free Members to free newsletter subscriptions
From now on the free membership option will change into a free newsletter subscription - which is what I suspect most free membership were anyway. Newsletter subscribers will have access only to the posts published in the Latest section on the home page. You will be able to access the site with your current log-ins but will only have access to the public posts in the Latest section on the home. These posts will change with each newsletter I send out.
Anyone who has a free membership now will transfer over to this category of newsletter subscriber from today.
Paid Subscribers with Some New Benefits
Thank you to those folks who have a paid subscription already - I am very grateful for your support and you are helping keep Foresight in the Present alive.
You lose nothing in this change, and you will have access to all posts as in the past. The subscriber only events will start in September (I will send out a separate email about the dates) and I hope my first special report will be ready by the end of the year. More about that in the same email I will send soon.
Your subscriber resources will also soon include presentation and webinar slides and videos that I have done, and I will be adding these resources in the next week or so.
Finally I want to start a new category which will focus on work you would like to share with other paid members - this would be a 30 minute online session on your work or anything else you want to share (scheduled to suit your time zone). This of course is optional, but if you are committed enough to become a paid subscriber, I hope and would love to hear your voice and learn about your work or study instead of everything being about my work all the time. I will send more details in the same email as above but start thinking about it - work in progress, something you want feedback or letting us know what you are doing now. Remember, there is no such thing as a ridiculous idea in our work.
A Few Things
A few things of interest that I found over the past weeks (I'm adding this section to the newsletter from now on).
New Book
Jim Dator needs no introduction - he helps shaped today's futures/foresight field.
A new book by Jim Dator
New Course
If you live in the USA (there's a residence requirement), there's a new online foresight/futures program - Doctor of Strategic Leadership - now available. More information is available on the Oral Roberts University site.
Using Crowdsourcing to Test Futures
This is a report on a participatory process on Ireland's future seeking feedback on progress to date - from the Irish Times. I think it's one of the best I've read.
That's it for this newsletter. Let me know what you think about the changes too please. Feedback very welcome. Only paid subscribers will be able to comment online, otherwise send me an email.
Till next time
Cheers
Maree
