Experiencing and Feeling Foresight
Running a foresight process to develop strategic options is no longer enough, we have to feel foresight as well.
This membership space is about sharing my knowledge about what you need to know about foresight and how it can be applied in practice. It’s one thing to learn by reading and watching videos about foresight, but quite another to experience it - to feel its impact on how you think.
A personal aside here. When I first found out about foresight and its application to strategy development in 1999, I thought the Vice-Chancellor’s request to me to ‘do foresight’ would be just another job I would have to do. When I then started learning about foresight in a formal context shortly after, I realised there were more to this knowledge I was accruing than just professional development. I then changed my enrolment from a single subject to the whole course. When I got to the end of the first year, I realised I was feeling energised and excited in a way I’d ever quite felt before, and I understood that something had changed for me.
